Ringling college Observation

Not much has changed at the water near the painting studio. But for some reason (to me) the water looks a bit greener/dirtier than what it usually looks like. Last week it was still dirty, but I could see the fish swimming around. This week It was so hard to see the bottom, and this water canal is not deep at all. I also found more garbage sailing in the water. A lot of plastic soda bottles and a plastic bag. All the things I talked about in my last project. So really besides the garbage floating and the greener water, nothing much looks different or that caught my eye as any sign of danger. So a slow week for finding anything environmental related.

This looked like those plastic lids for coffee.

The water looks like it got higher and hard to see any fish or the bottom.
Did not find anywhere of that fish that was dead at the bottom instead of dead floating on the water.

Ringling school observation

On Wednesday April 4, 2012 I took a walk to the painting studios to continue my nature observation of the water thats near here. This week the water continues to look as dirty as New York City's The Hudson River, and it looks like the water got higher. Strange, because we have not gotten a lot of rain, even though Florida needs the natural rain water. So something must be coming into this water way to make it increase.

What I found this week was not a lot of stuff that is major. But i did see some plastic snack bags, coffee cups and other garbage just floating along the water.

This puzzled me when I took a closer look. Clearly it is a dead fish, but the last time I saw a dead fish, it was floating on the water. How is this fist dead and staying still underwater.

This looks like some fabric caught on the branch. Maybe it is a glove or a towel, there is another thing next to it as well. I think it looks like a popped balloon. It was too far away from me to get a better look at it.

Floating garbage, plastic cup.

Whatever this things is, it is staying put in the water. And no one cares to question why it's there or why hasn't anyone taken it out.

Floating bag of ships.

Dunkin Donuts cup

There were many fish swimming in this water. And I find it funny that all the times I went to Lido Beach or Indian Beach, I couldn't see any fish near by. But in this dirty smell water, fish are all over the place and jumping out of it. I spotted many groups of fish swimming.

These fish were new to me, I have never seen them before and I want to know what they are.
